The Holy Ascension of Christ ( 01.06.2006 )
Today, on the feast of the Ascension of Christ, in the cathedral of Saints Methodius and Cyril in Strumica, Metropolitan Nahum of Strumica celebrated Hierarchical Divine Liturgy. At the Liturgy, the present faithful partook of the Holy Mysteries of Christ.
“As we have said, the Jesus prayer consists of these words, ‘Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy me!’ Whether you are standing, or seating, or eating, or traveling, or doing something else, constantly repeat this prayer, exerting yourself much in it, because it defeats our invisible enemies, as if a warrior with a deadly spear… When your tongue and mouth fail you, pray with the mind only. The prayer said for a long time with the mouth gives birth to the prayer of the mind, which, for its part, engenders the prayer of the heart” (Saint Paisius Velichkovsky).
