Hierarch’s Divine Liturgy ( 13.06.2005 )

Today, in the church of Saint Gregory Palamas in Strumica, Metropolitan Nahum of Strumica celebrated Divine Liturgy. At the Liturgy were also present the students who these days in organization of the World Macedonian Congress were on a visit to the Strumica Diocese. The children of God who yesterday were baptised in the spring in the vicinity of the Veljusa monastery partook of the Holy Mysteries of Christ.  

 

 

“Communion in the life-giving Divine energy in the Church and spiritual growth are not given automatically and guaranteed by Baptism and the Eucha-rist. The Lord gives us the grace of Holy Baptism only as a pledge and whether it will become active, it depends to a great extent on us and it is achieved with a free voluntary struggle, as a gift of God. The way of its actualisation is in fact a way of ascetical-hesychastic perfection and conquering of the inner areas, a way of ‘man’s deification’ and by this a way of his salvation as well.
