Table Medal Awarding ( 07.04.2008 )

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the restoration of the Ohrid Archdiocese in the name of the Macedonian Orthodox Church, and regarding to the 40th anniversary of the autocephaly of the Macedonian Orthodox Church as well, in the wake of the Feast of the Annunciation, a solemnity took place in “Alexander Palace” hotel in Skopje, where the Head of the Macedonian Orthodox Church, Archbishop of Ohrid and Macedonia His Beatitude Stefan, on behalf of the Diocese of Skopje awarded a table medal of the Macedonian Orthodox Church of the rank of the Holy Macedonian Cross, to outstanding persons in the field of science, economy and arts, for their achievements.

The medal has been made on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the autocephaly of the Macedonian Orthodox Church. The Holy Annunciation, around which is written “Justiniana Prima, Ohrid Archdiocese, Macedonian Orthodox Church” is presented on the front side; The Holy Macedonian Cross from the Monastery of the Most Holy Mother of God Eleusa, village Veljusa, around which it is written “40th Anniversary of the restoration of autocephaly” on the reverse of the medal.

The medal has been made of silver 999,9 with 60 mm diameter, 7,2 mm thickness and weight of 180 gr; it has been manufactured by the Coin Factory “JUSTINIANA PRIMA”. During the solemnity program a short film about the Macedonian Orthodox Church (MOC) was shown, and the stavropeghial church choir “IOAN HARMOSIN” with its wonderful old-macedonian chanting co-starred, too.

The scientists, carriers of the medal are as follows: John Mann, lifelong professor at the Columbia University in New York, director of science at the Columbia University and at the Institute for Psychiatry in the State of New York. Andrew Dwork, professor for neuropathology and director of the Department for Neuropathology at the Columbia University in New York. Konstantin Apostolov, member of the Macedonian Academy of Science and Arts, and a professor for microbiology in London; Gorgi Filipovski, academician of the Macedonian Academy of Science and Arts (MASA); Academician Jordan Pop-Jordanov; Academician Bojan Soptrajanov; Academician Momir Polenakovic; Academician Vladimir Serafimovski; Ljupco Kocarev -  Academician and regular professor at the Faculty for electrotechnics and information technologies at the St. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje; Gorazd Rosoklija, member of MASA and professor for psychiatry at the Columbia University; Janko Gogusev, specialist in clinical oncology and pathological anatomy, head of the research laboratory on cancer genetics at the Medical Faculty Hôpital Necker-Enfants Malades, Paris, France; Dimitar Efremov, executive director of the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology in Rome, Italy;

The carriers of this medal in business field are: Mr. Sterjo Nakov, Mr. Minco Jordanov, Mr. Andreja Josifovski, Mr. Hari Kostov, Mr. Branko Azeski, Mr. Gligor Bisev and Mr. Saso Davitkovski.

In the field of Arts and Culture the carriers are: Simon Trpceski, Boris Trajanov and Venko Andonovski.
