The Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church has enthroned Episcope of the Giurgiu diocese (southeast Romania) the Right Reverend Ambrose of Sinai, formerly the Patriarch’s assistant Episcope ( 12.04.2006 )

 On Sunday, 9 April 2006, in the cathedral of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos in Giurgiu (southeast Romania), at the Liturgy conducted by His Holiness Patriarch Theoctist and the hierarchs-members of the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church, the Right Reverend Ambrose was enthroned Episcope of the diocese of Giurgiu by a metropolitan’s charter and a presidential decree. along with numberless believers, present at the ceremony were the mayor of the Giurgiu municipality and his assistants, the diocesan clergy and representatives of the local army and authorities.

The Right Reverend Dr. Ambrose of Sinai (born in 1969), was appointed Elder of the Darvari Skete in Bucharest in 1996. On 4 October 2000, at the recommendation of Patriarch Theoctist, the Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church elected him assistant Episcope to the Patriarch. He has published two books so far, the second one being his doctoral thesis, which he defended in 2005 in Greece.
